OPENMAT is organised by Indra Gandhi National Open University twice in a year to admission for Distance MBA program after completing graduation. It organised in January and July every year.

Eligibility Criteria :- 

Age - No restriction in age 

Nationality - All country student can apply with term and condition.

If the candidates have valid MAT or CAT score, then it is not necessary OPENMAT score for admission. 

Examination paper have 3 hours and 200 marks with MCQs.

Syllabus :-

Exam marking :- Each questions carry 1 mark with no negative marking.

  1. Please download the Information Brochure January 2019 and read it carefully.
    1. Click on the button "REGISTER YOURSELF" that appears in the applicant login area and fill the required registration details.
    2. Remember, while choosing your Username. It must be between 8 to 16 characters.
    3. While choosing your password, ensure that it must be alphanumeric and between 8 to 16 characters.
    4. After filling the mandatory information, click the "SUBMIT" button.
    5. Your username will be instantly sent to you via e-mail and SMS.
  2. Remember your Username and Password for subsequent login.
  3. If you have already registered i.e. you are an existing user, click the "LOGIN" button.
  4. Before proceeding for filling the form online, the applicant must have the following:
    1. Scanned Photograph (less than 100 KB)
    2. Scanned Signature (less than 50 KB)
  5. Application Fee can be paid through:
    • Credit Card (Master/Visa)
    • Debit Card (Master/Visa/Rupay)
    • Net Banking
  1. Once you have uploaded your photograph and signature, click the next button. You will get the Form preview option. Save/Print your form for future reference.

Steps for filling Online form:
  1. Click on "LOGIN" button from the homepage of Online Entrance Test and then login with your Username and password by clicking the "LOGIN" button given on the login screen.
  2. Fill personal details, programme details, qualification details and correspondence details.
  3. Upload Scanned Photograph and Signature with specifications given below:
    • Scanned Photograph (less than 100 KB)
    • Scanned Signature (less than 50 KB)




  1. Pay your Application Fee through debit/credit card (Master/Visa/Rupay) and Net banking:
    1. Payment by Debit/Credit Card (Master/Visa/Rupay): You have to select Debit/Credit Card option to pay the application fee and follow the online instructions to complete the payment of fee. After successful payment, you will be able to print/save the payment confirmation slip.
    2. Payment by Net banking : If you have net banking account select this option. You will be redirected to your bank website.
Once you have uploaded your photograph and signature, and clicked the "NEXT" button, you will get the Form Preview option. Save/Print your form for future reference.

Programme Description 
The University will be admitting students for the Programmes mentioned below starting from January 2019 through Entrance Test,
all over the country.

School of Management studies offer Master of Business Administration (MBA) and various Post Graduate
Specialisation Diplomas.
MANAGEMENT PROGRAMME (MP)
IGNOU invites applications for the following Degree/Diploma Programmes in Management:

  • Post Graduate Diploma in Financial Management
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Operations Management
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing Management

ADMISSION
Admission to the Management Programme (MBA and specialisation PG Diplomas in HRM, FM, OM, MM
and FMP) will be done on the basis of the score obtained in the OPENMAT, conducted all over India twice
a year as per above schedule. A result card will be sent to all the candidates who have appeared in the
OPENMAT examination. It will indicate whether the candidate has qualified or not qualified for admission on
the basis of cut-off score as decided by the University. After qualifying in OPENMAT, a learner will have to
apply for admission on the specified APPLICATION FORM (Form 2) which is given in the Prospectus
alongwith required documents to the Regional Director concerned.

Eligibililty
  1. Any graduate (Including Chartered Accountancy/Cost Accountancy/Company Secretaryship)
with 50% marks for general category/45% for reserved category as per government of India rules.
  1. Clearance of OPENMAT conducted by IGNOU.
  2. No age bar

Duration Minimum 2 years and Maximum 5 years; offered in both January & July cycle of admissions.

Fee Structure Fees for each course is Rs. 1800/- (Rs. 3,000 for MS-100)

Programme Details The programme has been divided into two Session per year (January-June and July-December).
Consequently, there will be two examinations every year – one in the month of June for the January to June Semester courses
and the other is December for the July to December semester courses. The students are at liberty to appear any of the examinations
conducted by the University during the year subject to completing the minimum time frame and other formalities prescribed for the
 programme.

The MBA Programme consists of 21 courses in all. These comprise of :
  • All the courses from MS-1 to MS-09 and MS-11
  • Five courses from any one of the specialisation streams
  • Compulsory Courses (MS-10,MS-91, MS-95) and any one elective course out of MS-92/93/94/96/97
  • Project Course (MS-100) equivalent to 2 courses.
IGNOU follows a modular approach in its programme offerings viz. if a student takes admission into MBA and
for some reason or the other is not able to complete all the courses s/he is provided with exit point. If s/he completes
6 courses in a particular specialisation alongwith the compulsory basic course s/he would be awarded Post Graduate
Diploma in that particular specialisation.
Semester I : Any five courses from MS-1 to MS-11 excluding MS-10
Semester II : Rest of five courses
Semester III : MS-10, MS-95, two specialisation courses of your choice and MS-100
Semester IV : MS-91, three specialisation courses from specialisation stream opted in Semester-III
and any one elective course out of MS-92,93,94,96,97.
